Starling EHR team completes 2016 PQRS reporting requirement

The EHR team has been working through the month of March on the critical tasks of reporting PQRS data for reporting year 2016. I am happy to report that the data has been successfully submitted to CMS.

The task was made even more challenging this year as Starling needed to report out of two different EHR systems – Allscripts and SRS. For SRS, the reporting of data was a manual process that entailed the EHR staff searching through the chart for the key reportable measures. We estimate that the actual EHR team staff worked more than 400 hours to complete this important task!

I want to thank the Kara Olson and her team for this tremendous effort in getting this job done.

The Physician Quality Reporting System (PQRS) is a quality reporting program that encourages group practices to report information on the quality of care to Medicare. PQRS gives group practices the opportunity to assess the quality of care they provide to their patients, helping to ensure that patients get the right care at the right time.

In 2015, the program began applying a negative payment adjustment to group practices who did not satisfactorily report data on quality measures for Medicare Part B Physician Fee Schedule (PFS) covered professional services in 2013.
