President and Chief Executive Officer
The Starling Board of Directors is pleased to announce Jim Faircloth has been selected as our new Chief Executive Officer starting in 2020. Jim is a seasoned medical group practice executive who brings more than 25 years of diverse leadership experience gained within private medical group, health system, and consulting environments. Notably, over the last decade Jim was the CEO of Pinehurst Medical Clinic (PMC) in Pinehurst, North Carolina. The clinic is a large, independent multispecialty group practice with over 100 providers. PMC offers a broad range of primary and specialty care services. Pinehurst Medical Clinic also offers accredited imaging services, ASGE endoscopy center of excellence, accredited sleep centers, pharmacy, and high complexity laboratory and clinical trials. While at PMC Jim was integral in creating an accountable care network, Pinehurst Accountable Care Network.
Jim has experience negotiating both managed care and value-based contracts and worked closely with local large hospital systems developing infrastructure for physician networks, managed service organizations, and strategic planning initiatives.
Jim received both his BA in Economics and MS in Public Health from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
Michael Posner, MD, MBA, FACS
Chief Medical Officer
Dr. Michael Posner is a surgeon and Chief Medical Officer at Starling Physicians. He attended medical school at SUNY Health Sciences Center in Syracuse, New York and went on to do his internship and residency at Tulane University Medical Center in the Department of Surgery. He completed a fellowship in minimally invasive surgery at the University of Pittsburgh. He also completed his Master of Business degree at University of Massachusetts, Amherst.
Dr. Posner joined the former Grove Hill Medical Centers in 2005 where he built a thriving practice as a general surgeon. In 2016, Grove Hill merged with Connecticut Multispecialty Group and he continued his surgical career at the combined entity of Starling Physicians.
At Starling, his areas of clinical expertise include: management of breast diseases, both breast cancer and benign diseases; minimally invasive abdominal surgery including cholecystectomy, colectomy, and all types of hernias; and other general and oncologic surgery including skin cancer/melanoma. He sees patients in New Britain and Glastonbury and operates at Saint Francis Hospital and Medical Center, the Hospital of Central Connecticut, and the Connecticut Surgery Center.
In addition to his surgical role, Dr. Posner serves as Chief Medical Officer. In this leadership role on the executive team, he is involved in the financial health of the organization, recruitment, IT leadership, and safety and quality initiatives. The evolving role of value-based care is an important and growing component of the latter responsibility.
Chief Operating Officer
Lori began her career at Connecticut Multispecialty Group in 2002 as a Practice Manager of the Hematology/Oncology division. Lori’s dedication advanced her progressively through more responsible positions as Senior Practice Manager, and Director of Clinical Operations through the merger between CMG and Grove Hill, now Starling Physicians. In her role as Director of Clinical Operations, Lori has been managing multiple locations and departments, becoming more involved in the overall leadership and expansion of our clinic. Lori brings a wealth of operational expertise to our Management Team.
Gary Golliher, MBA
Chief Financial Officer
Gary joins us from the Hutchinson Clinic in Kansas where he served since 2015 as the CFO of a large physician-owned, multispecialty group practice with nearly 100 providers. There he led a 96-person team, overseeing ACO strategy, accounting, revenue cycle, contracting, IT, physician compensation, clinical quality, purchasing, decision support, and compliance.
Prior to his tenure at Hutchinson, Gary worked from 2008-2015 as Director of Healthcare Finance for Kelsey-Seybold Clinic and KelseyCare Advantage in Houston, Texas which was also a physician-owned, multispecialty group practice with 400 providers in 18 locations.
Gary graduated magna cum laude with a Bachelor of Arts in Economics from Western Washington University in Bellingham, WA in 1992. He received his Master of Business Administration degree from University of Washington in Seattle, WA in 1996.
Maryanna Polukhin, MD
Vice President of Primary Care
Dr. Polukhin practices as an internist in Newington. She is an innovative thinker who developed the Newington Integrative Medicine Center and is board certified in both internal and integrative medicine. She is a strong physician advocate and is a significant addition to the management team. She works with our internists to determine how Starling can provide optimal support for primary care. She currently is focused on optimizing our chronic care program, cultivating smart analytics for clinical practice, and developing stress reduction programs.
