  • Biography

    Dr. Nelson is originally from Chicagoland. He came east to attend Brown University where he studied Biomedical Engineering and Biology in preparation for medical school. At Brown, he was also on the crew team. He earned his medical degree from Boston University where he also completed his Orthopaedic Surgical Residency. After four years in the United States Navy in Charleston, SC he returned to Providence, RI where he completed a year-long fellowship in Hand and Microvascular Surgery at Brown/ Rhode Island Hospital.

    Dr. Nelson has a particular interest in complex wrist fractures, nerve surgery, and Dupuytren’s disease. He has practiced for over 25 years, most recently at Neurosurgery, Orthopaedics & Spine Specialists, PC in Waterbury, and prior to that at the Hand to Shoulder Center, also in Waterbury. He has been recognized numerous times as one of Connecticut’s “TOP DOCTORS.”  

    Outside of the office, he enjoys his friends, hiking, cooking, gardening, and woodworking with his best friend.
