Mary Gina Ratchford, MD, is a member of the Starling Physicians’ Ophthalmology team. She is a board-certified ophthalmic surgeon and has been practicing since 1995. After attending Hamilton College in upstate NY, she graduated from Albany Medical College where she completed both medical school and an internal medicine residency. She went on to finish an ophthalmology residency at the Alton Ochsner Medical Foundation in New Orleans, LA and completed a glaucoma fellowship at the Duke Eye Center in Durham, NC.

Dr. Ratchford performs cataract surgery including femtosecond assisted laser and implant specialty intraocular lenses. She also treats all stages of glaucoma, both medical and surgical, including a wide variety of MIGS procedures as well as traditional glaucoma surgery. She maintains hospital privileges at Hospital of Central Connecticut and Hartford Hospital.

Outside the office, Dr. Ratchford enjoys spending time with her family. This includes traveling, hiking, skiing and getting together with her adult twins and daughter. Dr. Ratchford also participates in overseas missions performing cataract surgery in underserved areas of the world
