Dr. Chertoff is a pulmonary and critical care physician who cares for patients with a wide range of lung and respiratory conditions, including asthma, COPD, pulmonary fibrosis, pneumonia, and lung cancer. In the hospital setting, he also treats critically ill patients in the intensive care unit with conditions such as respiratory failure and shock. 

Inspired by both his interest in science and mathematics and by watching his father practice orthopedic surgery, Dr. Chertoff was drawn to a career in medicine that combined problem-solving with helping others. 

Dr. Chertoff believes that listening closely to patients and understanding their stories is an essential part of providing effective care. He values creating strong relationships with his patients and helping ease the physical and emotional burden that illness can place on individuals and families. 

In addition to his clinical practice, Dr. Chertoff has been actively involved in medical research and education, with published work focusing on pulmonary disease, sepsis, critical care medicine, and healthcare disparities. He is also passionate about mental health awareness, substance abuse treatment, racial disparities in healthcare, and rescue animal advocacy. 

Outside of medicine, Dr. Chertoff enjoys fishing, golfing, coaching flag football, traveling, trying new restaurants, and spending time with his family.
