On August 25th, Starling Physicians was presented with the 2015 PATH Excellence in path-2015-lgPatient Service Award by UnitedHealthcare. This was the 3rd consecutive year for this outstanding honor. This award is a credit to the hard work of dedicated internal medicine providers in our Cromwell, New Britain, Newington, Plainville, and Southington locations.

The award is in recognition of our value based care model, and encourages greater use of preventative care for our patients over 65. This effort represents collaboration between healthcare providers and insurers to improve health outcomes for the aging population. Medical Director, Dr. Larry Koch, is proud of the achievement and explains, “This award is a validation of all the hard work that Starling Physicians has done and continues to do to improve the health of our patients.”

According to UnitedHealthcare leadership, “The results were remarkable.” Kerri Balbone, a National Vice President at UnitedHealthcare shared, “We appreciate your commitment to providing a better healthcare experience. Your efforts support achieving better outcomes for your patients, and all of us at UnitedHealthcare value our partnership with you.”

The internal medicine team, formerly part of Grove Hill, met all 12 measures of the Healthcare Effectiveness Data and Information Set. They also achieved superior 5 star performance levels in 8 of those measures, which is the highest possible level that can be achieved.

Today, preventative care is more critical than ever before. Center for Disease Control data reflects that fewer than 50% of adults over 65 are up to date with core preventative services, such as tests and screenings. Initiatives such as these are essential in encouraging preventative care in order to keep our aging population healthy.

Thank you to all our staff and providers who contributed to the success of this program.
