Lois Kamugisha, M.D, Hematology/Oncology

Lois Kamugisha, M.D., warmly referred to as Dr. Kemi by her patients, attended medical school at U.W.I in Trinidad, completed her residency at Morehouse in Atlanta, and completed her fellowship at MedStar Washington Hospital Center in the Georgetown program in Washington, D.C. She is board certified in internal medicine and hematology/oncology.

Dr. Kamugisha cares for patients with blood disorders and cancer.  As an oncologist she coordinates treatment planning and provides chemotherapy, immunotherapy and targeted treatments if indicated.

She is particularly interested in patient education, which is not only empowering to the patient, but leads to better outcomes.  She has extensive experience treating a diverse patient population in both urban and rural settings.

When Dr. Kamugisha is not treating patients, she enjoys traveling, swimming and watersports.  She is also very involved in volunteer work, including having volunteered at MedShare International which aims to deliver medical supplies and equipment to communities around the world in need.
