Dr. Xiomara Okonkwo was born and raised in Detroit, Michigan. She went to college at Howard University where she played lacrosse and received her bachelor’s degree in Sports Medicine. After undergraduate, she went on to receive her master’s degree in Interdisciplinary Sciences at Touro College in New York City. Realizing she had a passion for medicine, she went on to receive her podiatric medical degree from New York College of Podiatric Medicine.

After graduation, she received her residency training in podiatry trauma and reconstructive surgery at Yale New Haven Bridgeport Hospital (regional trauma and burn center). Dr. Okonkwo has extensive training, and is specialized in:
