Dr. Najjar’s Personal Journey
Dr. Najjar became an expert in metabolic medicine through her own experience struggling with weight loss and insulin resistance. In the video below, she shares her journey and how she finally came to realize the true secret to optimizing nutrition for health is by understanding the biochemistry of how foods affect hormones, control appetite, and trigger inflammation.
How To Shrink Your Body Fat
While there are many weight loss diets and fads out there, Dr. Najjar believes the most important aspect of shrinking body fat is understanding the way food affects your hormones and your cravings. The goal is to find an eating style that fosters a flexible metabolism while controlling appetite.
If you are at the supermarket and are overwhelmed by the number of options, you are not alone! Sometimes what you think maybe a healthy choice may actually be a poor choice that is loaded with hidden fats or preservatives.
Dr. Najjar shares her suggestions for busy people on the go who don’t cook. She suggests options for packaged foods with fewer sugars and starches and cleaner ingredients. When buying packaged food, she urges to: always read labels, choose options with fewer ingredients, and pick packaged foods that contain more protein than total carbohydrates.
What is Insulin?
While insulin is most famously known for regulating blood sugars, insulin does much more than just one job! Insulin is the master metabolic hormone. Click here for a brief video where Dr. Najjar describes the critical role that insulin plays in regulating body fat.
